Gravotonics aerial yoga swing overview

There are a number of aerial yoga swings available on the market but this is our favourite for a number of reasons. Let’s find out more about the Gravotonics aerial yoga swings and why we like them so much.

The aerial yoga swing by Gravotonics is the original aerial yoga trapeze, it’s been in production since 2003.  The family-run business is based in Bali, Indonesia and the swings have an Indonesian Design Cert. ensures the highest quality & safety standards – having a 200kg load capacity.

It is the only yoga swing we have come across with any sort of certification. Making us feel assured that it is safe to swing in.

Many other swings you may come across online have been mass-produced, potentially using inferior quality materials. They come with no safety assurances or warranties. The quality and safety is unmatched and is trusted by professional fitness centres and yoga studios the world over.

The swing sets are available for just $89 (£75). You get everything you need in the box apart from your ceiling mount or yoga stand. Making them much more affordable than some aerial yoga swings

They are made from 100% nylon, parachute material. It doesn’t stretch so you get plenty of support from the yoga swing. The advantage of this is you don’t have to work so hard, in comparison to yoga hammocks (slings) but they may dig into any tight muscles a bit to start off with.

In More detail - the review

Dimensions?

The hammock is 1.5m wide and 2.5m long. This is the perfect size for those wanting to purely practise aerial yoga. The length and width are suitable to support users in asanas.

There are three sets of handles that allow users to effortlessly stretch and strengthen their body and leverage their natural body weight as traction.

Like is the case with any yoga swing/trapeze, when you compare this to aerial hammocks it is not very long. So if you were planning to do any more circus style tricks and advanced yoga flips they are not possible in the yoga swings. Also if you wanted to do savasana in the hammock you can’t do this either, unless you are very petite.

Stability/Durability?

The swing is made from 100% nylon, and they have been built to last.

We love how the two fabrics are triple-stitched throughout it ensures that the swing last the test of time.

We’ve had ours a good while now and it has not rotted or grown any mildew.

As you would expect it is tear-resistant and we have not got any rips or tears in ours. Even with my small person liking to play in it is well.

From time to time we have popped it into the washing machine for a quick wash. It’s a piece of exercise equipment so from time to time it can get a bit sweaty.

The 6mm stainless steel hooks seem plenty thick enough to last a good while as well.

Portability?

The hammock weighs in at just 1.3kg, meaning that you can pack it away, pop it in your suitable case and of you go. It’s very portable and with quick assembly, it can be hung almost anywhere.

We loved the matching drawstring tote bag that came with it. The tote bag is small enough to fit in any standard size backpack so we can take it anywhere with us.

Ease of Use?

The Gravotonics hammock is very easy to use, it comes ready assembled. So when we took ours out of the package it was ready to hang. We chose to use a free-standing rig. So we just hung the daisy chains and then attached the s-rings

Versitility?

The innovators of the Gravotonics Yoga Swing had one goal. This was to create a versatile yoga product based on the basic aerial hammock that would allow users to safely and effectively perform aerial yoga and achieve almost ANY asana imaginable!

The yoga swing offers users the ability to stretch & strengthen.

The Gravotonics aerial yoga swing can be used to decompress the spine – stretching and strengthening your spine in a fun and effective way comes with playing in the swing.

Inversion therapy can be achieved by hanging upside down can alleviate muscular tension and promote increased joint mobility, circulation, and energy.

The swing can support and assist users to perform poses that they find difficult, it can help them to balance for example in warrior III or take some of the user’s weight, meaning that poses that require strength like warrior II are more achievable for those that find them challenging.

The yoga swing also improves balance, equilibrium, and awareness.

Users can also get a great core workout, either by doing aerial pilates or a core-based that includes planks etc. But by just using the swing users engage the stabilizing muscles to advance body weight practice.

Installation?

Installing the Gravotonics aerial yoga swing was simple. The kit contained everything we needed to hang it from our free-standing rig.

After unpacking our beautiful rig we were practising asanas within about 5 minutes.

We simply securely fitted the daisy chains to the bar at the top of our rig and then attached the s-rings to the swing and then to the appropriate loop on the daisy chain for our height.

The website feature very comprehensive instructions on how to rig the swing from ceiling hooks, exposed beams and door frames on their website. Take a look at those if you are wanting full instructions on how to rig (1).

Warranty??

Gravotnics are so confident about their product because they make them so well that they offer a 10-year warranty as standard. The website states that they have never had a swing returned. That just goes to show how good they are.

The 10-Year Warranty covers materials and workmanship. So if something faults within 10 years, let us know immediately, and we will send a replacement out right away.

Also after you have bought it, you change your mind, they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, but the buyer is responsible for the return shipping. This is quite a fair and standard deal we believe.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Gravotonics yoga swing is priced very reasonably and can be purchased for $89 / £75 including shipping.

Everything we needed apart from something to rig it from was included in the box. When you consider this fact it is a very reasonable cost to pay indeed.

It’s a great price for such a well-made product.

How Quick was delivery?

When buying anything a customer always wants to know how quickly something will arrive. When you buy them directly from Gravotonics they come with free express delivery.

The product is handmade, but they tend to dispatch within 3-5 days and then you just have to wait on the shipping company. So delivery times can vary due to where you are in the world.

Our yoga swing arrived 10 days after we ordered we ordered it. This is great considering it was made and shipped all the way across the world.

We would have loved it if it could have arrived the very next day – but the anticipation of it arriving was almost as exciting as being able to practice aerial yoga at home.

Where Can I Buy This Product?

This is one of those products that you are best buying directly from the manufacturers. Cut out all the middlemen and the associated additional costs.

The great thing about Gravotonics is that they offer free express international shipping worldwide.

If you want to buy at the lowest price take a look at the Gravotonics site before you consider buying elsewhere.

Overall Review

We are hammock lovers at heart as we like the opportunity to be able to do more circus-like tricks. But when we compare the Gravotonis aerial yoga swings to the leading competitors in this category there is no competition.

We would choose the Gravotonics swing over any others available on the market.

It’s a trusted brand, they have been around for some time now. They are used in studios around the world for aerial yoga or as props for yoga asanas.

The quality of the material cannot be beaten.

Also, the price is very reasonable as well.

If you are looking to buy an aerial yoga swing for home practice then the Gravotonics aerial yoga swings are the perfect ones to buy.

Try one for yourself, we don’t think you will be disappointed.
