4 of the Best Yoga Wall Ropes
Yoga wall ropes are superb for therapeutic and restorative yoga. They can help you to develop agility and confidence, bring freedom to your joints and you can practice more intense stretches safely.
If you have been practising Wall Rope Yoga at a studio and want to be able to practice from the comfort of your own home or you fancy a go but don’t live anywhere near a yoga studio with yoga rope walls you can buy your own equipment and do rope yoga at home.
Using ropes to get into yoga postures that stretch, flex or twist the body has been likened to moving a puppet. The Sanskrit word of puppet is “kurunta” and so rope yoga is also called Yoga Kurunta.
Rope yoga or Yoga Kurunta has it roots in Iyengar yoga, where historically simple ropes were secured from a typical window gate.

Where to Buy the Best Yoga Wall Ropes?
Whilst listed above are some brilliant yoga wall ropes that you can buy online to use at home. The best advice you can get is from your yoga wall rope instructor.
Your studio might not sell ropes directly to its customers but they might be able to advise where you can buy the ones that they use in the studio. This way you know that they have been tested in an environment you have used and buy professional yoga wall rope instructors. This will give you a little more confidence in them the first time that you buy them.
It can also be a good idea to check out reputable online stores that sell yoga props. You might be able to choose from a range of colours (blue, purple, white), qualities and prices. Different thicknesses of rope can also be purchased. you might have a preference for the diameters, for example, 12 and 17mm can be purchased.
You may have a preference based on where the yoga ropes are made for example China or Germany.
Online stores often give you the option to buy just the yoga wall rope or buy a kit that includes wall fixings.
I was reading online the other day that you could make your own home DIY yoga wall rope by sourcing rope from the hardware store. I’m not sure that I would recommend this.
Alternative's to Yoga Wall Ropes
If you’re not quite convinced about wall rope yoga you could take a look at acro yoga or maybe aerial yoga. Aerial yoga is quite closely related to wall rope yoga but it uses a fabric prop that takes the form of a hammock. These are usually hung from a free-standing frame which offers more space.
Another alternative if you want to practice headstands is a yoga headstand bench chair. Or perhaps you would like to use yoga straps hanging from the wall instead.
