4 ways Pole Fitness Will Transform Your Life
When pole fitness became popular over 10 years ago, people thought that it would be just a fitness fad. But pole fitness is still around, and more popular than ever, and it’s definitely not a fad.
Pole fitness has developed, expanded and become popular in even more areas of the world.
Today, millions of girls and boys take part in pole fitness lessons.
It’s so very popular because individuals have realised just how good it is for them physically and mentally.
If you’ve been thinking about taking up pole fitness but haven’t quite bitten the bullet yet, this article is aimed at you 🙂
In this post, we will discuss several ways that pole fitness workouts can change and transform your life.
Pole Fitness Will Make You Stronger
Many of the spins and tricks performed on or up the pole need you to lift and/or hold your own body weight.
This is perfect for building strength on the biceps, triceps, shoulders and back.
Once you start standing, climbing and hanging upside down you need to use your thighs and lower legs to grip the pole, meaning your quadriceps, adductors, abductors, hamstrings and glutes to name a few muscles that get a good workout.
Don’t worry if you don’t have very strong arms or legs, you will build it up as you progress through the syllabus.
Pole Will Make You More Flexible
Just taking part in pole fitness will help massively with your mobility. Many moves look better when the dancer has an increased range of motion, and some require that you can do the splits.
But don’t let this put you off. Many who take pole fitness lessons, start taking flexibility seriously and start training splits and back flexibility. Just taking the odd aerial yoga class would help you loads.
Pole Fitness Will Make You Happy
So many people that start pole dancing say it has helped their mental health tons. Anxiety and depression are lifted. It gives girls and boys so much confidence.
When pole fitness is practised regularly it can help reduce cortisol levels in the body. This is the bodies, primary stress-relieving hormone. When cortisol levels reduce so do stress levels.
When you pole dance, your body releases endorphins, they trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. many would say that they come to class feeling tired but leave feeling euphoric.
After a good workout, you will also sleep better. Having more and better quality sleep helps people massively. Problems never seem quite so bad after a good night’s sleep. It can reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
If you suffer from any of these problems, pole fitness could provide much-needed relief.
You Will Sleep Better
Exercise has been shown to be effective at decreasing sleep complaints and insomnia (1). The studies showed that individuals with chronic insomnia who begin regular exercise can fall asleep up to 13 minutes faster within just 4 weeks.
For health and well being, humans need 8 hours of good quality sleep a night. If we have less sleep we are more at risk of anxiety and depression (see above) and health conditions such as diabetes, stroke, heart failure and high blood pressure.
Pole fitness counts as exercise, and if you do it regularly it will help you get a good night’s sleep.
Instead of spending money on sleeping meds to help you sleep and coffee to wake you up, why not invest in a pole and take pole classes at home?
If you are convinced that pole fitness is what you need in your life, to give you confidence, make you stronger more flexible and happier then have a look online for pole classes near you or buy your own pole dancing pole for home and treat yourself to some online lessons.
